Mainstream Engineering’s Fluidized Bed Pyrolysis Reactor is a continuous, bench-scale test platform designed for biomass pyrolysis research, process optimization, bio-oil upgrading, and bio-oil collection testing. The system provides universities, laboratories, and research organizations with a standard platform for evaluating pyrolysis conditions without the time, cost, and risk of designing a custom bench-scale process from the ground up.

Most small-scale pyrolysis reactors rely on batch processing or handle only minimal feedstock quantities. Mainstream’s bench-scale system is designed to provide researchers with greater control, repeatability, and flexibility when studying feedstock behavior, reactor conditions, residence time, temperature, and bio-oil separation.

The system is capable of processing biomass and mixed waste feedstocks and has demonstrated high bio-oil yields using optimized fluidized bed reactor conditions. Its automated controls allow users to manage pyrolysis parameters through a touchscreen HMI, including fluidizing gas flow, reactor temperature, heated zone control, and user-programmable operating conditions.
