Mainstream Engineering Awarded Contract from the US Navy for a Current Balancing System for Generators

ROCKLEDGE, FL — February 2, 2018 —  Mainstream Engineering Corporation, a 32-year-old Brevard County manufacturer with a history of leading-edge research and development that has resulted in advanced, lean-manufacturing, cost-competitive products, which are all made in the USA, has been awarded a contract from the U.S Navy to demonstrate an innovative new Active Current Balancing System for Generators.

Unbalanced loading of electrical generators can increase system losses, reduce generator lifetime, and increase the frequency of spurious circuit breaker tripping. Existing technology used to balance loads are too large and heavy for Navy submarine applications.  The Navy has funded Mainstream to develop a prototype of their improved equipment  to verify that it is indeed far smaller and lighter.
