Mainstream Engineering Awarded Contract from Navy to Develop an Optical Cooling System

ROCKLEDGE, FL — July 22, 2019 — Mainstream Engineering Corporation has been awarded a contract from the Navy to Develop an Optical Cooling System. Optical cooling is a unique and promising cooling method capable of cooling to cryogenic temperatures in the absence of moving parts, noise, or vibration. A laser is used in conjunction with a semiconducting material to provide cooling. Unlike other types of cooling systems optical coolers may be able to cool to temperatures below -440 Fahrenheit.
