Mainstream Engineering Awarded Contract from the MDA for Developing a Revolutionary New Method for Screening of Capacitors
ROCKLEDGE, FL – July 29, 2016 – Mainstream Engineering Corporation, a 30-year-old Brevard County research and manufacturing company, has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center (TARDEC) to design, build, and test a unique advanced variable energy ignition system for internal combustion engines.
Mainstream’s ignition system adjusts ignition energy to improve ignitor life and improve emissions. During cold starts and low-speed operation, the ignition energy is automatically increased significantly to promote robust combustion. Mainstream’s unique system also provides individual ignitor control, which is managed using a conventional automotive engine control module.
