Ration Heater/Hydrator

Our warfighters are in need of beverages and food rations that can be heated while on the move. The current Flameless Ration Heater (FRH) provides an acceptable means for heating prepackaged, shelf-stable foods that are already hydrated. However, the current FRH is inadequate for heating dehydrated rations and water for beverages. In response, Mainstream Engineering is developing a self-heating, self-hydrating, combat ration. Proof-of-concept has been demonstrated with a flexible pouch device, and optimization of the packaging and other design variables is underway.
